Y’all. I did a thing! I totally changed my name. Into the Green is now Conscious Moxie. In anticipation of questions, I’ve created a short FAQ to explain the new blog name and my newfound alignment with conscious beauty.
For a while now, my inner voice has been telling me to consider a new name. Why?
- I began to realize that Into the Green was a little broad. And not very catchy. Outsiders who saw the name might wonder whether this was a blog about lawn care. Or maybe money. Or nature hikes.
- Blogs and Instagram handles with similar names that cover vastly different topics. It was totally possible that someone could be searching for my blog and land on the wrong website.
- I never felt fully connected to Into the Green. It’s hard to explain, but it didn’t feel like it encompassed what I was after.
Okay, so why Conscious Moxie? What’s conscious beauty? What happened to “clean?”
I’m so glad you asked! The “clean” beauty world is going through a divide. It started in early-to-mid 2020 when some folks in my niche began to align themselves with conspiracies and fear mongering (as it relates to product ingredients). And honestly, I want no part in that. Check out @merrady’s recent Instagram posts here, here, and here. While we differ on some views, she captures the sentiment well.
As a result, many of us in the clean beauty community are moving away from the word “clean” and more towards words like “conscious beauty” and “mindful beauty.” At least to me, the word “clean” can have a negative connotation. Like, “if your products aren’t clean, they must be bad” or “you’re not clean.” And I really don’t love that. Please hear me – I think it’s totally great if my friends in the clean beauty community continue using the word clean! I just felt like conscious beauty was the right direction for me.
This community should be full of grace and acceptance, as everyone is on a different journey to being aware of the ingredients in the products they use. “Clean” is not a regulated word. It can mean so many different things. So it’s important that each individual do his/her/their own research and determine what is best for him/her/them.
Is anything changing with your approach?
Nope. My personal standards and approach are not changing. I just wanted my wording and my blog to align more closely with what I believe and what I want to see. I will continue to share about products, brands, and helpful tips for anyone who wants to hear it.
Alright. That’s pretty much it. Thank you for following along with me here at *ahem* Conscious Moxie!
